The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with curiosity — capable of building reliable data pipelines, intuitive dashboards, and intelligent insights that enhance data security and governance outcomes.

DC area location; majority telework with occasional in-person meetings.

Responsibilities:

    BI Development

  • Design, build, and optimize Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic data models supporting mission and audit reporting.
  • Implement Row-Level Security (RLS), DAX measures, and performance tuning for large datasets.
  • Support the Power BI workspace deployment lifecycle (Dev → QA → Prod) following configuration and security standards.
  • Collaborate with data stewards and program teams to ensure data accuracy, metadata alignment, and consistency across reports.

    SQL Server Development

  • Write and optimize T-SQL queries, views, and stored procedures to support analytical models and ETL processes.
  • Work with on-premises SQL Server 2019/2022 environments, including linked servers, permissions, and gateway connections.
  • Perform data validation and profiling for quality assurance and compliance.

    ETL / SSIS Integration

  • Develop and maintain SSIS packages that extract data from multiple sources, including REST APIs, SQL Server, SharePoint, and flat files.
  • Automate data refreshes and orchestrate job scheduling within SQL Agent or enterprise schedulers.
  • Implement error handling, audit logging, and metadata tracking in ETL processes.

    AI and Anomaly Detection

  • Integrate AI/ML components into reporting solutions to detect anomalies and irregularities in cyber audit or operational data.
  • Identify unusual trends or potential security issues.
  • Design proof-of-concepts to demonstrate predictive analytics and pattern recognition capabilities for federal data.

    Governance and Collaboration

  • Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and access control policies.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and documentation of user stories and acceptance criteria.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience developing Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • 7+ years of experience with SQL Server (on-prem), including stored procedures and data modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with SSIS for ETL and data integration (REST APIs, SQL data sources).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts for anomaly detection and tools such as Python, R, or Azure Machine Learning.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to operate independently in a fast-paced federal environment.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
